On the south coast of Kenya, just below Mombasa, Waa is the perfect
place to relax after safari or the ultimate destination for those
seeking peace and tranquility at a private beach on the Indian Ocean.
The Kaya, meaning sacred forest in Kiswahili, surrounds the Kaya Waa house
putting visitors in hard-to-come-by peace from the modern world. The
Kaya is a place held in holy reverence by local people as highly magical,
and it contains protected indigenous plants and wildlife as well. Only
a mirage of isolation, Kaya Waa is a mere 30 minutes away from downtown
Mombasa and Moi International airport. The house, although secluded, is
15 km from Diani, a beach town with supermarkets, post office, fax
machines, and other modern conveniences. Surrounded by forest and
neighbored by monitor lizards, colobus monkeys, fish eagles, coral and
starfish, the Kaya Waa house is an excellent destination for anyone
wanting to get away and relax.
