The private beach is a one-minute walk from the house, at the foot of the garden. The path goes through the coconut palms on the lawn and then winds down through tropical plants and coral rag steps to land on the beach. The beach sand is pure white and soft. The view is of the Indian Ocean and the bluffs to the north and the south. There's a coral reef about 1.5 km out where the sea sprays as it hits. Because the waves break on the reef, the water on the beach is calm. Depending on the tides, the beach provides alternating recreation from crab-watching walks along the coral rag to bathing in clear blue sea. Although the beach is private and inaccessible to the general public, it is used by local fishermen who use nets inside the reef to catch fish. The cook at Kaya Waa often buys the evening's fish from the local fishermen. The beach is excellent for snorkeling (bring your own gear).
