| A spacious air-conditioned 2nd floor room with two double “Pili Pili” beds under one enormous batik trimmed mosquito net has a handsome comfortable feel. A Zanzibar official’s writing desk allows for letter writing and the sizeable self-contained bathroom is adorned with hand painted detailing and offers a large stone bath with flexible shower. This room has access to the 2nd floor common kitchen at the end of the 2nd floor hall dining area and lounge. The namesake for the room, Tharia Topan, was sometimes referred to as the “Bismarck” of the Swahili Empire. His photo and other scenes from old Zanzibar adorn this comfortable room. He was knighted Sir Tharia Topan by the king of England and enjoyed the status as financial advisor to Sultan Bargash. | ||
