A pleasant air-conditioned 2nd floor room with four front windows overlooks our inner courtyard. Interesting period lampshades and a “pemba” desk add to the old world feel of this room. The bathroom is large and self-contained with hand painted detailing and a large stone bath with flexible shower. This room has access to the 2nd floor common kitchen at the end of the 2nd floor hall dining area and lounge. Princess Salamah bint Saïd; Sayyida Salme (in short Salme) was a sister to Sultan Bargash and is notable for her writing “ The Memoirs of an Arabian Princess”. With her marriage to a German trader she adopted the name EMILY RUETE. Her photos and drawings of women of Zanzibar adorn this room dedicated to the princess.
